Kansas City Chiefs fans have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. What are the biggest ones that fans might sometimes take for granted?

It’s Thanksgiving and that means family gatherings will take place (albeit on a much smaller scale), large quantities of turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole and many different varieties of pie will be consumed, after which the masses will fall asleep while watching football.

Thanksgiving should be a time for reflection, a time to try and put aside all that troubles you, and try to think of the things you have in your life that make you happy, that you are truly thankful that you have. Obviously, I don’t know my readers well enough to tell them what they should be thankful for in their own personal lives, and I would never presume to do so, but in the spirit of thankfulness, let us reflect upon our Kansas City Chiefs.

Sustained Success

This year, I am thankful that for the first time since I became a Chiefs fan, the team seems built to last and has a strategy for sustained success. In no way am I suggesting that prior to Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs were not seeing success, but we all are all too familiar with the Chiefs having a pretty good regular season, just good enough to get them into the playoffs, where they would lose in heartbreaking fashion and be one and done.

With this current Chiefs team, the sky is the limit and it seems the only team that can beat them is sometimes themselves. Of course, players will come and go, for that is the nature of sports, but with Mahomes locked up for at least 10 years, and Andy Reid and Brett Veach both signing extensions themselves, it appears as though the nucleus of this Chiefs team is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

As long as we have Reid calling the plays and Veach handling personnel, you can bet and be thankful that a team will always be built around Mahomes, and as long as we have Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs will not be out of any game.

Does this mean the Chiefs will win the Super Bowl every year, no of course not, but will they be competing for it every year and always be in the conversation and in contention? Will Mahomes always be in the conversation for league MVP? The answer to both is 100% yes.

There are so many teams around the league that struggle with head coaching issues, quarterback issues, culture issues, and the list goes on, but when you think of the Chiefs you think of a franchise that has found the recipe for sustained success. For the Kansas City Chiefs, the future is bright and the sky is the limit, and I am very thankful for that.
