It’s never fun to complement your most hated rival, but Kansas City Chiefs fans need to admit that the Raiders look to have turned the corner.

When the Las Vegas Raiders briefly knocked the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs off their pedestal in Week 5, most people thought it was just a bad game on Kansas City’s end. No one wanted to give the Raiders credit and actually think they might be a good team.

After Week 11’s close-call against the Raiders, can Chiefs fans set aside their differences and admit that the Raiders are a good football team? I know we don’t want to say nice things about the Raiders, but come on. They nearly swept the Chiefs for the first time since Andy Reid took over and did so with an absolutely dominant offensive performance.

I’ve never been a fan of Derek Carr’s, but he played well. The offensive line was tremendous, benefitting both Carr’s performance and the run game as well. The defense wasn’t good, but neither was the Chiefs’ defense.

It feels gross to say anything nice about the Raiders, but Kansas City Chiefs fans should give the silver and black their due diligence.

A lot of Chiefs fans probably woke up this morning acting like the win was never in doubt and that Kansas City had it in the bag, but in the moment, I highly doubt those same fans felt the same way. I know I wasn’t confident in KC pulling that one out.

While the AFC West is likely going to be Kansas City’s for the fifth straight year, the Chiefs very well might face the Raiders for a third time in the 2020 season. As of now, the Chiefs would actually host Las Vegas in the Wild Card round and that’s a matchup I want no part of.

Some have mentioned that the Raiders’ offense has only been this explosive in their two games against Kansas City, but they put a butt whooping on the Broncos last week and also beat up on the Saints earlier in the season. I know we want to mock the Raiders and never admit they’re onto something good, but I can’t put on an act anymore — The Las Vegas Raiders are a team that could be very scary down the road.

If these two teams meet up again in the playoffs, it could be a tough game to win for the defending champs. Let’s give props where props are due, the Raiders look to be for real.
