The Kansas City Chiefs were fortunate to leave Las Vegas with a win, moving them to 9-1 on the year. What did we learn in the 35-31 victory?

Not all wins have to be pretty, but Kansas City Chiefs fans already knew that prior to their 35-31 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. The team narrowly beat the Panthers in Week 9 before heading into their bye week and this game had all of us on the edge of our seats until the final seconds.

Let’s dive right in to what we learned after the heartstopping AFC West battle between the Chiefs and the Raiders!

Defense has issues all over

For all of the talk about how bad the defense has been at stopping the run (and it’s been well-deserved), the rest of the defense failed to make their mark in this game. The run defense actually looked GOOD compared to the rest of the team, allowing 89 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The rest of the defense, however, was abysmal. The safety play was terrible (Tyrann Mathieu had a rough night, as did Daniel Sorensen until that game-clinching interception), the pass rush did absolutely nothing, and well – It was all just really bad. This defense has to play better if the Chiefs want to get anywhere near the Super Bowl again this season.

As mentioned just a bit ago, the pass rush was nowhere to be found, not recording a single sack against Derek Carr. The Raiders’ offensive line played well all night, but Frank Clark was going up against a backup right tackle and couldn’t get home. Pretty pathetic.
