KC Chiefs: What we learned about the AFC West after Week 10

The KC Chiefs were on a bye this week, but the other three AFC West teams played. What did we learn about the division after Week 10?

Even with the Kansas City Chiefs on a bye, we still learned a lot about the other three teams in the AFC West. There were only two games in the division this weekend, as the Broncos and Raiders faced off in Las Vegas. The other game was the Chargers squaring off against the Dolphins in Miami.

Only the Raiders left with a victory, as they curb stomped the Broncos while the Chargers once again fell flat in their game. Vegas continues to stay in the race for the AFC West even if them winning it seems very unlikely. We’ll know more about that race after next week’s slate of games, however, as the Chiefs and Raiders play in Week 11.

Let’s get to what we learned about the other three divisional teams, starting with the hapless Chargers.

What did we learn about the Los Angeles Chargers?

For the first time in his young career, Justin Herbert didn’t put up flashy numbers. He threw for just 187 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception en route to a 29-21 loss to the resurgent Miami Dolphins who are all of a sudden a really good team.

Despite Herbert’s less eye popping numbers, the Chargers offense was moving the ball well. They turned the ball over once though and that’s something that can’t happen, especially for a team looking to catch all of the breaks they can.

The Bolts defense played fine, not allowing rookie Tua Tagovailoa to have a big game (though he did throw for two touchdowns). The defense has had their moments this season, but with injuries racking up, the unit hasn’t looked as good as we all know it can be.

What we learned about the Chargers is that their season is done. We already knew that honestly, but it’s official now. They’re 2-7 and Herbert still has just one win under his belt. He’s trying to do everything for the Chargers and unfortunately for him, football is a team sport. It doesn’t matter how good he is if the rest of his team can’t help him out.

Next up: The Chargers should be able to get their third win of the season when the Jets come to SoFi Stadium. That game takes place in the late window on Sunday.
