The 2020 season could very well be the last time we see these five players in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform.

The Kansas City Chiefs were fortunate to retain nearly all of their Super Bowl winning roster, but it won’t be that way when the 2020 season comes to a close (hopefully after another Chiefs Super Bowl victory in February). The Chiefs have several key guys hitting free agency this offseason and while yes, they could bring some of them back, it might be in their best interest not to and to focus on the draft and bringing in new free agents instead.

Let’s take a look at five members of the 2020 Chiefs team who might not be back in Chiefs red for 2021.

Kansas City Chiefs who won’t be back in 2021 — No. 5: Bashaud Breeland

I hope that I’m wrong with listing Bashaud Breeland here, but usually when a player signs a one-year “prove it” deal and actually proves it, he becomes much more attractive on the free agent market. Despite being suspended for the first four games of the 2020 season, Breeland has played well since he returned to action in Week 5.

According to Pro Football Focus, Breeland has the third lowest passer rating allowed this season (with No. 1 being Kendall Fuller, who the Chiefs couldn’t re-sign this offseason, oh the agony!). He’s been a solid player and has helped make the Chiefs secondary a scary one since he joined the team last year.

It’d be awesome if Kansas City could find a way to re-sign Breeland once again, but his performance this year is going to make him appealing to another team and those teams will likely be able to outbid the Chiefs. He’s done a lot for this team though and that interception he had in Super Bowl LIV will be a moment that I remember forever.
