This team isn’t even playing their best

Chris Clark of KC Kingdom discussed in his latest article how the Chiefs are 8-1 and aren’t even playing their best football this season. Here’s what Clark had to say in that article,

"There are moments when all three phases are individually firing well, but they just haven’t put it all together, with the exception of the Denver game. Maybe this is what a Super Bowl hangover looks like for Kansas City. It’s odd to look at an 8-1 record and the scores from those games and think there is something “wrong” with this team."

Perhaps Clark is right with what he said here, perhaps this IS KC’s Super Bowl hangover. For most teams, that’s barely hanging around .500 and maybe just squeaking into the playoffs. For the Chiefs, it’s going 8-1 and looking pretty dang good.

We know the Chiefs are a good team because when they played two of the tougher teams on their schedule — the Ravens and Bills — they crushed them. It’s pretty clear that the Chiefs are bored against lesser opponents, as we saw them sleepwalk their way through games against the Chargers, Patriots, Raiders, and Panthers. KC was fortunate to only lose one of those games.

The Chiefs have some tough games ahead of them in their final seven games and it’ll be interesting to see how they do against those teams. The Raiders, Buccaneers, Dolphins, and Saints are all playoff teams as of now and the Chiefs very well might have to win out in order to get the No. 1 seed over Pittsburgh.
