A-. . . . COACHING

I don’t have much to say about coaching other than it has been very much on point. The play calling by Andy Reid has been as creative and innovative as always (see Mahomes’ going in motion touchdown pass) and his clock management has much improved as well.

Eric Bieniemy has been a big help in play calling too and he rightfully deserves a head coaching job this offseason. The fact that the Chiefs have been able to keep him around as long as they have is asinine. Why don’t teams want Bieniemy?

Steve Spagnuolo has coached up the defense very well, making noticeable changes at half time when it has been needed. There has been several games where the defense has looked a little loose in the first half, only to come out looking much tighter in the second half.

If I can criticize Spags for anything, it is that Sunday against the Panthers, the Chiefs kept blitzing Teddy Bridgewater over and over again and he took full advantage of it. This is something that defenses have tried to do to Mahomes over and over again this season, and he has made them pay, so you would think that Spags would change up the strategy a bit when it doesn’t seem to be working.

For that, I will knock the coaching ever so slightly, but they still pass with high marks.
