MVP Mahomes is back!

For as much of a star as Patrick Mahomes is, he hasn’t been looped into the MVP conversation at all this year. I get it, as his numbers haven’t been what we’re used to seeing from the Chiefs quarterback, but he completely re-entered the conversation after his outing at Arrowhead on Sunday.

Mahomes finished the day going 31 of 42 with 416 yards and five touchdowns. When I said the Chiefs didn’t need to have an electric run game vs New York, it’s because of how well Mahomes was playing. This is also likely why the Chiefs didn’t run the ball more, as Mahomes was in a groove and Andy Reid didn’t want to disturb that groove.

While I doubt Mahomes wins MVP by season’s end simply due to the league wanting to get new faces in the running (hey did you know Russell Wilson has never won MVP?), he showed in this match-up that he’s the same Patrick Mahomes we all know and love.
