The Kansas City Chiefs blew out the Jets and moving to 7-1 on the year. What did we learn about the reigning Super Bowl champs?

If you went with the foolproof “Pick against the Jets” strategy in your survivor leagues this week, then congrats! You’ve advanced another week, as the Kansas City Chiefs curb stomped the winless Jets, handing them their eighth straight loss. It was a closer game than most of us expected in the first half, but the Chiefs took off and dominated in the second half, as we all expected them to.

With another win in the books, what did we learn about the 7-1 Chiefs in their 35-9 victory over the  0-8 New York Jets?

Special Teams has tricks up their sleeves

One of the best moments of this game came on a 4th down early in the game when the Chiefs had a 4th and 6 in the middle of the field. They lined up to punt, but Tommy Townsend threw it to a wide open Byron Pringle instead, converting the first down. KC would score a touchdown on the very next play.  It was nice to see Townsend get to have that moment and the rookie has impressed in all facets so far.

Special teams also had a key field goal block at the end of the first half that prevented the Jets from making it a closer game. Had New York converted that field goal, it’d have been a 21-12 game heading into the locker room and the Jets would have had some momentum. Instead, they failed to score anymore points after their field goal attempt was blocked.
