The 2021 offseason is the right time for the Kansas City Royals to trade away Jorge Soler.

Jorge Soler is an incredibly talented player who just has not been able to stay healthy. The risk is just too high to re-sign Soler to a long-term contract extension. The Kansas City Royals likely will not get draft pick compensation if Soler can enter free agency following the 2021 season with teams looking to offer him a one-year deal to prove his health.

The Royals missed their opportunity to capitalize on Soler’s highest trade value after the 2019 season. Soler still has some positive value if the right trade partner is enticed. Teams who value exit velocity, barrel %, and hard hit % will jump at the lottery of a full season of Soler.

While the Royals missed their chance at trading Soler for some real contributors, that doesn’t mean it isn’t still an option moving forward. He’s under contract for one more year, so it’ll be interesting to see what direction the Royals to go in from here.

Let’s take a look at two possible trades involving the Royals’ designated hitter.
