Broncos’ struggles vs KC

Flashback to the 2015 season. The Chiefs blew a winnable game against the then-led Peyton Manning Broncos, but lost it in the final seconds thanks to a late fumble by Jamaal Charles. Denver went on to win, marking seven straight wins against Kansas City. It was super frustrating, but little did both fan bases know, that’d be the last time the Broncos would win against the Chiefs for at least half a decade.

Since then, the Chiefs have run the table against Denver, winning nine straight against them and mostly doing so in dominant fashion. Yes, there have been a few close games here and there, but for the most part, it’s been all Kansas City since Manning retired. Denver hasn’t been able to find a quarterback capable of filling his shoes and that’s helped KC dominate the rivalry.

I’m a big believer in teams being “due” for a victory against teams they struggle against. We saw it with the Raiders, who had lost five straight games against Kansas City and finally pulled one off two weeks ago. Will the Broncos be able to overcome their struggles against the Chiefs or will KC make it 10 straight wins over Denver?

Which Chiefs team shows up?

It’s been an interesting season for the Chiefs so far. In their two toughest games of the season (at least opponent wise), they’ve looked like the Super Bowl winning team we grew to love last season. When it comes to lesser opponents, however, the Chiefs just don’t look interested in taking part of the football game whatsoever.

We saw this against the Chargers and Raiders and also the Patriots to some extent as well. KC was lucky to escape Los Angeles with a win and their defense helped them big time against the Patriots, but their disinterest in playing less talented teams finally bit them in the butt when they got upended by the Raiders.

I’ll be curious to see which Chiefs team we see in Denver this weekend. Will they play the Broncos like they’re a worthy competitor or will they slog their way through this one like they did against their other divisional opponents?
