Competitive First Half

The Nebraska Cornhuskers came out of the gate firing and ready to make a competitive game out of what was certain to be a blowout by driving down the field to score a touchdown in four plays on the game’s opening drive.

Ohio State had an answer, but the Huskers remained in the game for most of the first half before the Buckeyes slowly gained more and more momentum right before halftime. Down 24-14 at halftime, Scott Frost had to be thrilled that his team was still in the game but was certainly upset at some of the calls that didn’t go his way.

While the officiating didn’t exactly lose Nebraska the game, it certainly gave Ohio State all the momentum to expand their lead and cruise to their first win of the season. As the final scoreline showed, the Buckeyes did eventually run away with a blowout 52-17 win over an improved Huskers team.

Nebraska showed that they can make a big play and make a big stop, which should leave fans optimistic about the season’s future. The Huskers can certainly learn from this game and be ready to give Wisconsin a run for their money next weekend at Memorial Stadium.
