Nebraska Football: Three things to watch vs Ohio State in Week 1
Can the Huskers keep it close?
Nebraska is entering this game as 25-point underdogs, which no one is surprised by. They’re still in the midst of a rebuild while Ohio State was so close to partaking in the National Championship Game earlier this year (feels like so long ago, doesn’t it).
If Nebraska gets blown out by the Buckeyes, no one is going to be shocked. In fact, most of us are anticipating that Ohio State will win this one pretty handily. But what if the Huskers make this a closer game than we expect? What if it’s a close score at half time and then OSU runs away with it in the second half?
These are all things to watch for. If Ohio State takes off early on and never looks back, it’ll be disappointing, because there is some slight hope that the Cornhuskers can keep things close for a little bit, but probably won’t have what it takes to keep up with the Buckeyes.
Hopefully we’re all left with a positive impression of the Nebraska Cornhuskers when the final whistle blows on Saturday afternoon. While I don’t have high hopes for the Huskers in this one, there are still things they can do to show me they’re improving. One is to score points, one is to keep up with the Buckeyes, and another is to show some life on defense. If they can do those things, I’ll feel confident in this team moving forward.
What are you hoping to see from the Huskers in their first game of the 2020 season?
