Kansas State Football: Three things to watch vs KU in Sunflower Showdown
By Trey Donovan
1. Offense should look the best it has all year
The offense so far this year, even with Skylar Thompson healthy, has never looked one like it was 100% due to many factors. O-line struggles, wide receiver struggles, and a little bit of Will Howard struggling against TCU have all been examples of why this offense isn’t clicking. This will change this week, as KU is not exactly a great team on either side of the ball and K-State should have their best offensive output of the year in this game.
A couple of factors that could lead to an offensive blowout are the wide receivers showing up for the first time this season, a trio of running backs might be used, and the fact that the o-line should just dominate in the trenches against the KU defensive front. K-State’s receivers will have a great chance to show how talented they are against a secondary that is not the greatest, at least compared to TCU’s secondary.
Even with KU’s secondary coming off an okay game, they will struggle against the K-State receiving core. Another factor in this game is that KU’s defense has given up 16 total touchdowns on the year, while only scoring six so far on the year. K-State should be able to completely blowout the Jayhawks on their way to 4-1 on the year.
