1. Ben Niemann

Ben Niemann might be the most current unpopular Chiefs player and I wouldn’t argue with anyone if they told me that was their opinion of him. Niemann simply isn’t good and we’ve done this same song and dance now dating back to last season.

Where Niemann keeps getting a pass with the team is that he’ll make a big play like a sack or fumble recovery and that gives him brownie points. When it comes down to it though, Niemann just isn’t starter worthy and it’s concerning that second round rookie Willie Gay can’t find more playing time yet Niemann is able to stay out there.

Niemann had just two tackles in the loss to the Raiders and showed he was ineffective in both stopping the run and trying to stop the pass. If he can’t do either of those things well, why is he still on the field? Anthony Hitchens hadn’t been playing well, but he’s looked better recently and upped the ante. Why can’t Niemann? He’s not good and shouldn’t be getting as much playing time as he is.

This wasn’t a fun game to watch and it sucked even more because it was the Raiders that Kansas City lost to. Eventually the Raiders were going to steal a win from the Chiefs because they had lost five straight against KC and Derek Carr had yet to win a game at Arrowhead in his career. This was bound to happen eventually.

Still, watching these four terrible performances left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and I honestly wish the Chiefs were playing on Thursday Night Football, so that we could move on from talking about this game. Instead, we have to continue discussing it through next Monday. Ugh.
