The Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Raiders on Sunday, but don’t worry Chiefs Kingdom, the sky isn’t falling.

Sunday’s 40-32 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders was an ugly one for the Kansas City Chiefs and while it’s never fun to lose, there is absolutely no need for fans to panic about the future of this team. They’re still a good team and are in good shape to win the division and also make it deep into the playoffs.

First and foremost, Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback and Andy Reid is the head coach. Any time Mahomes is on the field, the Chiefs have a chance to win the football game. Chiefs fans have been dreaming their entire lives of having a quarterback like that and they finally have one in Mahomes. We saw it in every playoff game last season, including the Super Bowl, and it’s always going to be something that opponents are fearful of as well.

Reid being the head coach is another reason not to panic. Sure, he has his issues when it comes to time management, but there’s no question that Reid played a major role in why the Chiefs are where they are right now as a franchise. He saved this organization and turned them into winners.

Something else to keep in mind moving forward is that after Week 6 against the Bills, the schedule eases up quite a bit. Kansas City will have games against the Broncos, Jets, and Panthers before heading into their Week 10 bye (as of now at least, COVID could easily flip things around). Those should be three easy wins for the reigning champs and get them back on the right track before heading into the meatier part of their schedule.

The Chiefs are still in sole possession of first place in the division, even with this loss. Now if they lose next week and the Raiders win, then Las Vegas would take over that No. 1 spot, but right now, KC is a game up on the black and silver. Fortunately, the Chiefs play in the AFC West and not the AFC North, as three teams have four wins in that division.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still the best team in the AFC West and one of (if not THE) best teams in the AFC as a whole. They played a sloppy game on Sunday and quite frankly, deserved to lose. They had been playing sloppy football in three out of five of their games so far and it was bound to catch up to them eventually.

Give props to the Raiders for their game plan. They waltzed into Arrowhead and took it to the defending champs. Not a lot of teams are able to do that.

As far as panic mode goes, however, I won’t be at that stage unless this team has some major injuries and falls to .500 at some point. Anything can happen, of course, but one loss is no reason to panic, so take a deep breath and relax. The Chiefs are still Super Bowl contenders.
