KC Chiefs fans might think Patrick Mahomes is the MVP so far, but that’s simply not the case.

If the NFL season were to end today, who would be the league MVP? Kansas City Chiefs fans might not like my answer, as Patrick Mahomes would not be the consensus pick as the league’s Most Valuable Player after four games in the books in the 2020 season.

There are three other players who would definitely be ahead of Mahomes in the MVP race and while it’s unfortunate, Mahomes might be penalized a bit since he is a recent MVP recipient, as the league seemingly prefers to give the award to players who aren’t recent winners. Mahomes won in 2018 while only one other player listed here has won before and that was back in 2014.

Anyway, let’s go through each of the three players ahead of Mahomes and discuss what they have done to this point to get them in this position.

. Quarterback. Seattle Seahawks. Russell Wilson. 3. player. 36

Russell Wilson been with the same organization and the same head coach for his entire professional career. He has many weapons at his disposal, but that should not subtract from how Wilson is setting ablaze through the NFL, lighting up teams on the way. Wilson is playing with a vigor that is unmatched by anyone else in the league at this moment.

Wilson’s performance up to this point has been nothing short of stellar so far, boasting a 4-0 record, achieving his victories with no less than 30 points a game and leading the league in touchdown passes. With how poorly the Seahawks defense has played, the fact that they’re 4-0 is nearly all because of Wilson and what he’s been able to do under center.

It’s worth noting that the same Patriots team that Mahomes and the Chiefs struggled to put points on this past week wasn’t a problem for Wilson when he and his Hawks faced them in Week 2. Wilson torched the Patriots with five touchdown passes, scoring 35 points, and defeating a stingy Patriots team under the lights of primetime.

To this point of the season, Wilson has thrown for 1,285 yards, 16 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He’s undoubtedly the leader in the MVP race and it’s crazy to think that Wilson has yet to win the MVP award despite his prolific career.
