The Kansas City Chiefs are off to another 4-0 start and there are plenty of reasons to believe that that streak will continue.

The Kansas City Chiefs hit the 4-0 mark for the fourth straight season, a now-NFL record. As the CBS crew noted during the broadcast, no other team has begun four seasons in a row with four straight wins, but this is a sign of the times in Kansas City. These days, the Chiefs aren’t expected to just compete, but to win. So far this season, here are the reasons why they are doing just that.

1. Killer Offense

The Chiefs offense is one of the most dynamic and creative offenses that the NFL has ever seen. A perfect pairing between an all-time great coach and a superstar quarterback is changing the way the game is played. In Week 3, Kansas City marched into Baltimore and unleashed one of the most creative offensive gameplans seen in a very long time. Who would have thought that they’d see an under-handed toss to a fullback on a screen play and then a lob to an offensive lineman, both for touchdowns, in the same game?

This is a unit that can beat anyone throwing the ball to one of the league’s top receiver groups. And now, with the addition of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, it’s a team that truly keeps teams honest against the ground game. While it’s taking a little time to develop that run game, there’s no question that the ability is there and will be used. Just when opposing defenses think they have this offense backed into a corner, it seems like Mahomes hits the league’s best tight end out of nowhere for a big first down on a third and long.

It seems that no lead is safe against a Mahomes-led offense. After comeback wins in all three playoff games last season, other teams can only hope to keep scoring and keep the ball away from Kansas City. This is a very different mentality from not many seasons ago when it seemed like a come-from-behind win was out of the question for the Chiefs. Now, there’s always a sense of hope that they can, and likely will, pull out the victory.

Simply put, this Chiefs offense has a killer instinct. Opposing defenses can only hope to slow down Mahomes and company, knowing that it’s unlikely that they’ll stop them. It may take a full three to four quarters but eventually, this team figures out a way to solve the puzzle and get the win. There’s enough firepower on this offensive arsenal that it’s basically just like choosing how you want to die.
