Sit of the Week: Tom Brady, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I know this seems counter intuitive, because if Miller is my start of the week, how can Tom Brady have a bad game? Well because in PPR, catches are worth a million times more than quarterback passing yards. If Brady had any sort of rushing baseline, he would be safe in this match-up. He doesn’t, though, so you should be wary of having the GOAT in your lineup this week.

The thing here is that benching Brady is going to be super hard for most fantasy managers. He is a Top 10 QB in the year so far, and is coming off an almost 35 point fantasy game that saw him toss 5 touchdowns. This right here is all about the matchup against a stingy Bears defense and the health status of some key Buccaneer stars.

If Godwin is out, the Patriots will be without a Pro Bowl WR as well as a starting tight end. O.J. Howard suffered an Achilles injury Sunday, and is now out for the season. Couple that with a quick turnaround on a short week against the second toughest defense for fantasy quarterbacks ON THE ROAD. The recipe is there for Brady to have a stinker of a fantasy week.

This is not to say that Brady couldn’t get it done. Great players often find ways to win even in the worst circumstances, and a player like Brady may just flip the switch and dominate this match-up. As a fantasy manager, though, you sometimes don’t need to take the risk and can pivot to the waiver wire for quarterback play.

Brady has been great for fantasy this year, and Daniel Jones has been putrid. Jones, however, has a rushing baseline as well as a juicy match-up and could be better for your lineup this week only. So don’t take the risk on Brady. Other quarterbacks can give you the same or better production with half the worry.
