The KC Chiefs continued to build on their lead in the AFC West after Week 4.

This past week was supposed to be the first time that no AFC West team played on Monday Night Football, but as we all know, that changed when the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Week 4 match-up against the New England Patriots was moved to Monday night due to Cam Newton testing positive for the coronavirus.

What did we learn about the AFC West now that every team in the division has played four games? Let’s go through the teams based on when they played this weekend, meaning we’ll start with the Broncos.

What did we learn about the Denver Broncos?

45. 28. 30. Final. 37

The Broncos played last Thursday night and no one was looking forward to that match-up because it pitted the Broncos third string quarterback against the lowly New York Jets. It wasn’t hard to imagine if the Broncos lost this game that they might opt to throw the towel in and go for broke when it comes to landing Trevor Lawrence in next year’s draft.

Fortunately for Chiefs fans, that didn’t happen (I want no part of Lawrence being in the AFC West). The Broncos managed to get their first victory of the season and while yes, it did come against the worst team in the NFL, they did so with a third string quarterback in. That’s impressive no matter how you swing it.

Denver hasn’t had an easy start to the season, suffering key injury after key injury, including their starting quarterback. It’s never easy losing your starting quarterback, but the Broncos did the best with what they had and got that coveted first victory.

What we learned about the Broncos is that they won’t go 0-16 (not that any of us thought that’d be a possibility) and now they know they can win ball games. Denver probably isn’t going to threaten the Chiefs for the division title, but if Drew Lock comes back and they play nearly perfect football down the stretch, they could certainly vie for a playoff spot. It seems unlikely at 1-3, but anything is possible.

Next up: The Broncos hit the road to face the Patriots in Foxboro in the late window of games.
