The Kansas City Chiefs moved to 4-0 thanks to their defense.

It wasn’t necessarily the prettiest of wins, but the Kansas City Chiefs still won and did so by double digits, proving just how good this team is. It’s still early in the season, but through a month of action, Kansas City is the best team in the NFL.

With the Chiefs winning yet again, it’s time for this week’s edition of star performances from the victory. It’s very defensive heavy this week and for good reason, as the defense took over and helped keep this team in it when the offense took a bit to get going.

So, without further ado, let’s get into the players who shined the brightest for the defending Super Bowl champions in their 26-10 victory against the Patriots.

6. Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce could make this list every week, but I try to be fair and not include the big name players every week because then we’d have the same players on this list week after week and that’s not compelling to read about. Kelce makes an appearance this week, however, because his big catch and run that went for 45 yards not only jump started the offense, but also was the longest play of the game for either team at that point in time.

No one on offense really had a sensational game, and give credit to Bill Belichick and the Patriots for that, but Kelce led the Chiefs in receiving yards with 70 off of three catches. New England always does a good job containing Kelce and the broadcast crew noted that he’s yet to have a 100-yard receiving game against them during the course of his career.

Even still, Kelce had arguably the biggest play on offense and did so on his 31st birthday. He was probably hoping not to have to play a game on his birthday, but that changed with the positive COVID test and Kelce made the best of it.
