KC Chiefs: Four things we learned in Week 4 victory vs Patriots
The KC Chiefs defeated the New England Patriots and moved to 4-0 on the year.
After a slow start to the game, the Kansas City Chiefs offense finally found their footing and were able to look more like the unit we’ve come to know and love. When I say it was a slow start to begin, I mean it, as the Chiefs had just six points at half time and to counter that, the Patriots had three points and really should have tied it at the half.
Let’s get to what we learned in Kansas City’s 26-10 victory over the New England Patriots.
1. This defense can win a Super Bowl
This was something we saw glimpses of last week with the beatdown over the Ravens, but the defense continued to impress for the second straight week. Sure, they might have allowed some promising drives by the Patriots, but when push came to shove, the Chiefs defense didn’t break, holding the Patriots to just 10 points and forcing them to commit four total turnovers.
The bigger thing about this game was that we saw different names rise up to the occasion, as Taco Charlton forced a key fumble that helped keep the Patriots off the scoreboard once again. KC’s defense hauled in three interceptions, the Brian Hoyer pick was courtesy of Juan Thornhill while the two Jarrett Stidham interceptions went to Tyrann Mathieu and Rashad Fenton. Mathieu’s was a pick six while Fenton’s essentially closed the door on the Pats.
We won’t see this defense show up every week, but as long as the majority of this unit is healthy, they can be a Super Bowl winning defense.
