Kansas football couldn’t figure out how to stop the run of Oklahoma State and it led to an absolute beatdown in Lawrence, as the Cowboys rolled to a 47-7 victory.

The Kansas Jayhawks were never in this game and it was pretty evident early on that they were overmatched against the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowboys, who led 31-0 at half time. Again, Kansas had no shot and part of why they were manhandled so badly was that they couldn’t figure out how to stop the rushing attack of OSU.

Oklahoma State finished the day with a whopping 60 carries for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Chuba Hubbard did most of that damage, carrying the rock 20 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns and even though it was pretty obvious who was getting the ball time and time again, the Jayhawks still couldn’t stop it from happening.

While yes, the 47 points allowed by the defense is embarrassing, the offense didn’t help, not scoring until the final quarter of action and it coming in garbage time. Oklahoma State couldn’t quite pitch a shutout, but they came awfully close.

Miles Kendrick played for most of the game and did not perform well, going 11 of 19 for 90 yards and an interception while Thomas MacVittie went just 3 of 5 for two yards. The KU run game has been fairly impressive in the past few years, but they didn’t do much on Saturday (being down by so much early on didn’t help), with the Jayhawks totaling just 92 yards on the ground.

It’s entirely possible that Kansas football goes winless in this shortened season.

After their three games so far this season, the Jayhawks don’t look like a team that can take anyone down. They’ve been blown out in all three games and haven’t showed much of a fight offensively. There’s a lot of work to be done for Les Miles and his coaching staff, so hopefully the Athletic Director doesn’t give up on him without giving him a legitimate chance to turn the corner.

Kansas football is now 0-3 to start the year and they’ll get two weeks to prepare for a road game in Morgantown against West Virginia. WVU is a sneaky team year after year and should be able to hand KU their fourth loss of the year, but crazier things have happened.

Hopefully the Jayhawks can stop the run a little bit better this time around.
