What did we learn about the Denver Broncos?

28. 48. 10. 45. Final

This has been a nightmare start for Vic Fangio and the Denver Broncos, as he now has them 0-3 for the second straight year. This time around is much different from last year, however, as his starting quarterback is hurt and likely going to miss at least a month of action.

The Broncos had the misfortune of hosting the fiery Buccaneers in week three and got their butts whooped in the process. Neither Denver quarterback could get much going, with both Jeff Driskel and Brett Rypien throwing for 184 yards, one touchdown, and two picks while getting sacked a combined six times.

With the Broncos not being able to throw the ball, it was vital that their run game get going, but that didn’t happen either, as they totaled just 42 yards on the ground. Rookie receiver Jerry Jeudy had a good game though, grabbing five passes for 55 yards while second year tight end Noah Fant also had five catches for 46 yards.

Denver’s defense limited the Buccaneers rushing attack from having a big day, holding them to just 68 yards on the ground. Unfortunately, that just led Tampa Bay to airing it out more, as Tom Brady went 25 of 38 for 297 yards and three touchdowns while getting sacked twice.

What we learned about the Broncos is that as long as Drew Lock is out, they’re not going to be any good. I’m not Lock’s biggest fan, but he would have been able to muster up more than just a touchdown in this game.

Next up: The Broncos have a short week ahead of them, traveling to play the Jets on Thursday Night Football with both teams sitting at 0-3. Who thought that game was a good idea?
