1. Patrick Mahomes

Just like what I said with Jones on the previous entry, Patrick Mahomes isn’t someone I look to include here simply because we know what the guy is capable of. After his performance against one of the best defenses in the league, however, he needs to be listed here as the best player for the team in week 3.

Mahomes finished the game going 31 of 42 for 385 yards and five total touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) and showed that he is far and away the better quarterback on the gridiron. He and the rest of the Chiefs offense basically did whatever they wanted to against the Ravens defense and that has to be scary for the rest of the league to see him play this well against a really good D.

It was refreshing to see the Kansas City Chiefs bounce back in a big way, handing Baltimore their first win of the season and doing so in dominant fashion. Now the Chiefs have the head-to-head over the Ravens should the playoff seedings come down to that needing to be a factor in determining who gets the one seed.

These were just a few players who shined bright on Monday Night Football, but a case could have been made for basically anyone else on the team to be included (except for Darwin Thompson). Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins both had big games and helped move the chains while Frank Clark also had a monster game defensively.

It’s a good sign when I feel like I’m leaving players off because that means the team played well. Let’s keep that up next week when the Patriots come to Arrowhead Stadium to try and play spoiler.
