1. Darwinism

Ooof. Tough game for Darwin Thompson, the running back whom the Chiefs selected in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. His fumble on the team’s first drive of the second half turned into three points for Baltimore, but it also gave the opponent some drive, some hope. Thompson didn’t see the field much, if at all, after coughing up the rock. Good riddance.

2. Lack of Imagination

Up 27-13 in the third quarter, the Chiefs faced a 4th-&-1 from their own 49. They went for it, which was a good call. But the call-call? That was a bad call. Why call for a run up the gut with your fullback? I don’t like that call at all. Put the ball in the hands of your best player, or spread it to one of the members of the best receiving group in football, or give it to the kid you drafted in the first round for, presumably, situations like this.

But to Sherman? Up the middle? Sometimes Eric Bieniemy, who continues his march toward landing a head coaching gig, and Andy Reid overthink things. That happened here.

3. The 10-0 Run

The defense was put into some precarious spots early in the second half, and working with a 17-point lead, there was some room for error. Good thing, because err the defense did, giving up a field goal and a touchdown on consecutive drives that gave the Ravens some life.

Yes, I’m being nitpicky.

4. Willie

Speaking of which, Willie Gay Jr. played only nine snaps on defense. With the Chiefs dominating this game so much, it seemed like a good time to get the rookie some ample playing time. But they didn’t.

5. What the Hell’s Going on Out Here?

When Devin Duvernay took this to the house, I found myself channeling my inner Vince Lombardi, as I’m sure some of you also did.
