KC Chiefs: 5 way too early head coaching spots for Eric Bieniemy
By Cullen Jekel
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars have looked surprisingly good this season as they defeated the Colts in Week 1 and lost 33-30 to the Titans in Week 2. At first, with the exodus of a bunch of players in the offseason, it looked like the team would tank for Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. But Gardner Minshew is looking solid.
Regardless, this is a rebuilding team that could have a shot at a top quarterback in next year’s draft, either Lawrence, Ohio State’s Justin Fields, or even North Dakota State’s Trey Lance. It would make sense to pair that player with an offensive-minded coach with a fresh record, a clean slate, unlike the team’s current head coach, Doug Marrone.
New York Jets
While I wouldn’t wish this job upon my worst enemy, it’s still one of only 32 NFL head coaching jobs available. If Adam Gase is fired and the Jets offer this position to Bieniemy, I imagine he would take it. He’d have either a chance at picking a quarterback high in the draft, or would have Sam Darnold, who’s still young and has, at times, shown promise.
Like the Jaguars, this would be a massive overhaul project, and this is in a tougher division than the AFC South. Other than Darnold, the Jets have…
You know, maybe Bieniemy should turn down this job if it’s offered. That roster is horrendous.
