3. Health/Rest

If you take a look at the Chiefs and Chargers injury report, at first glance you would think health favored the Chargers. The Chiefs will be without the services of Charvarius Ward, Alex Okafor, and Khaleen Saunders. The Chargers are only missing backup running back Justin Jackson.

The injury report doesn’t tell the entire story, however, because the Chargers are also without stud safety Derwin James and starting center Mike Pouncey for the remainder of the season.

Not having Derwin James is a huge blow, as he is one of the only players in the entire league that can cover Travis Kelce as well as match him physically. Pouncey is another big loss.

The Chargers upgraded their offensive line this offseason by acquiring Bryan Bulaga and Trai Turner. The rest of the line is shaky, however, and losing Pouncey makes the Chargers weak in the middle. That isn’t exactly the place you want to be weak at when you are staring down a match-up with Chris Jones,

The Chiefs also are more well rested. They were able to knock the rust off against the Texans and won with relative ease. The team then had extra time to prepare for a Chargers team that that just came off of a defensive slugfest with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Expect the Chiefs to come out fresh and with a great gameplan this week against Los Angeles.
