What did we learn about the Las Vegas Raiders?

Typing Las Vegas Raiders is going to take some getting used to, but hey the Raiders won their first game with the new team name. This is going to be a game that impresses people at first glance, but don’t let it. The Panthers defense is trash this year and the offense wasn’t supposed to be all that good either, but managed to put up 30 on the Raiders D.

The Raiders should owe their victory to second-year running back Josh Jacobs, who rushed for 3 touchdowns and 93 yards on the afternoon. The kid is a freak and is the one thing that scares me about the Raiders.

Las Vegas surrendered 128 yards rushing with 96 of those coming from Christian McCaffrey. That’s nothing to necessarily hang your head over, as CMC is the real deal, but stopping the run was something the Raiders struggled with last year as well.

What we mostly learned about the Raiders in their week 1 victory is that Jacobs is going to carry their offense. We also learned that their defense needs some fine tuning and could be pretty easy to score points against this year.

Think of it this way – If Teddy Bridgewater and the rebuilding Panthers can put up 388 yards of total offense, 30 points, and attempt a game winning drive in the final minutes, just IMAGINE what the Chiefs are going to do to this Raiders defense in 2020.

Next up for the Raiders: They’ll open up their new Las Vegas stadium against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. Ooh boy.
