Kansas City Chiefs: 3 star performances vs Texans in week 1
Everyone did their part in Thursday’s 34-20 win over the Texans, but these 3 Chiefs wowed the most.
Heading into this game, most Chiefs fans assumed that Clyde Edwards-Helaire would have a big game, so while he was absolutely a star and deserved to be recognized here, his performance wasn’t surprising.
The other two were surprises though, as not many people anticipated that L’Jarius Sneed would be one of the best players defensively in this game. Sneed was taken in the fourth round of this year’s draft and was filling in for a suspended Bashaud Breeland, but he kicked butt in his first glimpse of NFL action.
Last, but not least, Kelechi Osemele, who was a brick wall in his first game as a Chief. Osemele might have spent a fair amount of time with the Raiders, but he made as good impression as a former Raider can in Kansas City. He and Eric Fisher were dominant on that left side of the line and if Osemele can give the Chiefs insurance at left guard – a position that has been a revolving door over the years – that would be fantastic.
I actually mentioned both Edwards-Helaire and Osemele as players to keep an eye on in this game (and kind of Sneed too, as I said the second cornerback is someone to watch, but I predicted it’d be Rashad Fenton). CEH having a good game was to be expected, but I’ve always been excited about the Osemele signing and he delivered for sure.
Let’s see if these 3 can continue to be a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses. For now, their names are sure on the map in Chiefs Kingdom!
