Toughest Tight Ends in 2020 – Number 2: Mark Andrews

. Tight End. Baltimore Ravens. Mark Andrews. 2. player. 26

The Ravens took Mark Andrews in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and after a decent rookie season, he exploded onto the scene in year two in Lamar Jackson’s first full year at quarterback.

Andrews finished his sophomore season with 64 receptions for 852 yards and ten touchdowns. He was definitely a red zone target for Jackson and the Ravens, proven by his double digit touchdowns last year.

Andrews only had three catches for 15 yards against the Chiefs last season and that was huge for them, considering he went for over 100 yards in the Ravens’ previous two games. Holding him to just three catches for 15 yards was quite the accomplishment, especially when you consider the Chiefs defense still wasn’t great at that point.

Mark Andrews will look to put up better numbers when his Ravens host the Chiefs in week three.

Toughest Tight Ends in 2020 – Number 1: Darren Waller

28. . Tight End. Las Vegas Raiders. Darren Waller. 1. player

Darren Waller came out of absolutely nowhere last year and now he’s the toughest tight end on the Kansas City Chiefs schedule. Prior to 2019, Waller had just 178 yards through three seasons, but all of a sudden was unstoppable last year.

The former Georgia Tech product was taken in the sixth round by the Ravens in 2016 and spent two years in Baltimore before landing with the Raiders. They struck gold with this signing, maybe not right away, but it was worth it nonetheless, as he hauled in 90 catches for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns this past season.

To go from 75 yards to 1,145 is insane, but Waller did it and fans would be foolish to count him out this year. He had two good games against the Chiefs last year – six catches for 63 yards in week two and seven catches for 100 yards in week 12 – and will look to build on those this year.

He’ll get two shots to do so: Week five at Arrowhead and week 11 in Las Vegas.

Tight ends are a little trickier to rank because there aren’t as many good ones as there are running backs and wide receivers. Even with that being the case, there were still plenty of tight ends to include here.

Some might wonder why Jared Cook of the Saints was excluded and I did strongly consider putting him in the fifth spot. He had nine touchdowns last year and fits into that Saints offense quite well, but Gesicki was the younger option and more of a rising star.

What do you think? Who are the toughest tight ends on Kansas City’s schedule?
