It might come as a surprise, but offensive guard Kelechi Osemele is the Kansas City Chiefs’ X-factor this season.

In order for the Kansas City Chiefs to run it back in the 2020 season, their offensive line will need to be top notch.

Kelechi Osemele might be a new addition to this team, but he’ll play a huge role along the offensive line in 2020. That’s why he’s Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report’s pick as the Chiefs’ biggest x-factor this season.

Sobleski writes,

"At one point in his career, Osemele was the NFL’s most dominant physical presence along the offensive interior. However, he’s coming off season-ending shoulder surgery, and the Chiefs can’t be exactly sure what to expect from the two-time Pro Bowl guard."

The guard position took a pretty monumental hit this offseason, as right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and rookie lineman Lucas Niang both opted out of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LDT was a surefire starter at right guard while Niang was going to battle for a starting position.

Throw in that Stefen Wisniewski did not return to Kansas City in free agency, instead choosing to sign with the Steelers, and the Chiefs were once again trying to fill the void at offensive guard.

Osemele will surely earn the left guard job (his preferred position) and has the ability to be one of the best in the entire league if he can recover from his shoulder surgery.

The rest of the line will consist of Eric Fisher at left tackle, Austin Reiter at center, and Mitchell Schwartz at right tackle. Andrew Wylie is probably going to win the job at right guard, but Mike Remmers and Martinas Rankin are options there as well.

The Chiefs offensive line had their ups and downs last season, but when they were on, they were very good. They got rocked in the Super Bowl by the 49ers defensive front, but that was one of the league’s toughest defensive fronts last season, so it wasn’t an easy feat by any means.

Osemele might be new to the Chiefs, but he’s a former two-time Pro Bowler and has a lot to offer this team. If he’s good, the rest of the line should be good to go and be able to protect Patrick Mahomes on a weekly basis.

What do you think, Chiefs fans? Is Kelechi Osemele the X-factor of this team or would you have gone with someone else?
