Fantasy Football Rookies to Target – Number 4: Cam Akers

player. 51. . Running Back. Los Angeles Rams. Cam Akers. 4

Out of all the rookie running backs this season – outside of Clyde Edwards-HelaireCam Akers has the most clear path to being a starting, workhorse running back.

With the departure of Todd Gurley from Los Angeles, Akers has a golden ticket to the starting job in a very fantasy friendly offense. His only other competition really appears to be Darrell Henderson, the second year running back who was definitely not overly impressive during his rookie campaign.

Akers has the athletic traits to provide a lot of success and the Rams offense has the upside to help him produce big fantasy numbers. It is definitely not out of the question for Akers to finish as the top rookie running back this season.

Fantasy Football Rookies to Target – Number 3: Jonathan Taylor

46. . Running Back. Indianapolis Colts. Jonathan Taylor. 3. player

Although on paper, it doesn’t seem like Jonathan Taylor has as quite as easy of a path to a starting position as Akers, he is probably the most pro ready running back prospect in the class and it appears that the Colts are going to hand him the reigns.

If he is able to carve out a role of 15-20 carries per game, he is going to be a great fantasy option in 2020. The worrisome part about Taylor is the fact that the Colts have so many other competent backs. Because of the skill and depth of the running back position in Indianapolis, his upside will be limited and it’s probably likely that he does not see much passing down work at all.

Taylor is a great talent, just make sure you’re taking things like this into consideration and don’t over pay for the hype.

Fantasy Football Rookies to Target – Number 2: Joe Burrow

. Quarterback. Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow. 2. player. 56

Joe Burrow will undoubtedly be the highest scoring fantasy rookie this season, but in basing this list off of value, it’s hard to put him at number one.

I actually like Burrow’s upside this season, having great targets to throw to and coming in as one one of the most pro-ready prospects in the past couple of years. However, with most fantasy leagues being just one quarterback leagues, it’s hard to see him as anything more than a fringe-relevant fantasy quarterback as a rookie.

Burrow landed in a great situation though, so if you’re in a two-quarterback league, he would make a great QB2 option for you!
