Toughest Running Backs in 2020 – Number 1: Christian McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey. 1. player. 87. . Running Back. Carolina Panthers

Christian McCaffrey isn’t just the toughest running back the Kansas City Chiefs will face this year, he might be the toughest player they face period.

McCaffrey’s ability to take over games as both a rusher and a receiver is uncanny and he’s going to put up numbers on this Chiefs defense, even if they are much improved.

This past season, McCaffrey was just insane on the gridiron. He carried the ball 287 times for a whopping 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns while also catching 116 receptions for 1,005 yards and four touchdowns.

If the Panthers had made the playoffs last year, McCaffrey would have been a much stronger MVP candidate and he’d have definitely deserved it if the award was given to him. He WAS the Panthers’ offense last season.

It’ll be a challenge for the Chiefs to stop the former seventh overall pick because if they try to bottle him up in the running game, he’ll just make a play in the receiving game and vice versa.

Running backs aren’t as important as they used to be, but Christian McCaffrey is solid proof that they can still win teams games. He’ll travel to Arrowhead to play the Chiefs in week nine.
