Royals news surrounds how the game against the Reds scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to Wednesday, which will now consist of a doubleheader.

Over the weekend, the Cincinnati Reds had someone test positive for the coronavirus. With the Kansas City Royals playing them on Tuesday and Wednesday, many speculated that the games could be postponed.

Well, now Tuesday’s has been pushed back to Wednesday and a doubleheader will be played.

Jeffrey Flanagan tweeted out the news on Tuesday morning.

This wasn’t entirely shocking, as the league has been doing a pretty good job of postponing games when a team has anyone test positive. They’re simply just playing it safe here to make sure no further outbreaks occur in an MLB clubhouse.

The Royals have had eight players test positive, but all of those players have since recovered and most have been on the active roster and playing games (Nick Dini and Daniel Tillo aren’t on the big league roster).

Here’s what’s trending in Royals news from around FanSided

"The Royals need to perform well this week against the Reds and the Twins. If the Royals take four out of the next six games on the schedule, they will be at 13-15 for the season."

The Royals are currently 9-14 after playing 23 games and they’ve been better than a lot of us expected them to. The beginning of the season was a tough run for the boys in blue, but they went on a four-game winning streak last week and have since started slumping again.

The bullpen has been tremendous, led by Trevor Rosenthal, Josh Staumont, Greg Holland, Scott Barlow, and Kyle Zimmer, who all have very nice ERAs and have pitched quite well out of the pen.

The starting rotation is coming together and fans look forward to the back-to-back days when Brady Singer and Kris Bubic pitch, as they’re hopefully going to be two huge pieces for this team when they start to contend again.

The offense goes in waves and right now is nowhere to be found. Hopefully they’ll reappear soon because the trade deadline is fast approaching and the Royals could fall into the buyers category still.

So, Royals fans, there will be a doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday. Let’s hope the Royals can get a sweep and get to 11 wins on the year!
