Ranking Every Quarterback in 2020 – Number 6: Cam Newton

6. player. 47. . Quarterback. New England Patriots. Cam Newton

It’s weird having a Patriots logo next to Cam Newton‘s name, but such is life in 2020. The Panthers decided to move on from their former first overall pick after injuries took their toll on him and after a long stint on the market, Newton wound up signing a one-year deal with New England. Of course he did.

Newton could honestly be ranked higher or lower on here and people probably wouldn’t argue much. On the one hand, he’s talented as heck, being able to throw and run with the ball efficiently. On the other hand, however, the injuries have piled up in recent years and that’s why Newton is such a question mark moving forward.

Had the Patriots opted to move forward with former fourth round pick Jarrett Stidham, they’d have been much lower on this list because Stidham is such an unknown. He might have actually been dead last, even behind the rookies.

With Newton though, you have to take into account just how dominant he can be when he gets going. He was the first overall pick in 2011 for a reason and led the Panthers to a Super Bowl. Throw in that New England has one of the best coaches in the NFL and it wouldn’t be shocking if Cam Newton ends up being one of the toughest quarterbacks on Kansas City’s schedule.

The Chiefs will try to slow Newton down in week four at Arrowhead Stadium.
