Fantasy Football Running Backs to Target – Number 5: Alvin Kamara

player. 15. . Running Back. New Orleans Saints. Alvin Kamara. 5

Alvin Kamara is a guy who could – and should – make a sizable leap in his fantasy production this season. It is hard to believe that as good has Kamara has been so far in his career that he actually hasn’t made it to 1,000 yards in a season yet.

With that in mind, this could be the year he breaks that trend, so for stat predictions sake we are going to say he’ll rush for right around that 1,000 yard mark this season. He also had a big drop in touchdowns last season as compared to 2018.

It’s more than fair to say he should have more touchdowns this season than last, so let’s just say he splits the difference between his 2018 and 2019 touchdown totals and gets 12 touchdowns (that is double his total from last season, but still very doable for Kamara).

In looking at Kamara’s receiving stats, you will find another oddity. He has had exactly 81 receptions in all three of his seasons, so just for fun let’s once again keep him at 81 receptions. As far as his receiving yards, he definitely produces more than last season, but similar type numbers as the last couple years so I, again, just took the average of the last two seasons and came out with 621 receiving yards.

With these predicted stats, Kamara would wind up with 1,000 rush yards, 81 receptions, 621 receiving yards, and 12 total touchdowns. This would be about 274.6 fantasy points, which should be good enough to get him back into the top 5.

Last year’s down year should be an outlier for Kamara going forward, so don’t be afraid to fire up Kamara in your 2020 fantasy drafts.
