The Kansas City Chiefs don’t stray away from their traditional uniforms much, but Reddit had an interesting idea for if they decided to do just that.

It’s been awhile since the Kansas City Chiefs have worn anything other than their traditional attire, with the last time I can think of being during the course of the 2009 season when they wore the Dallas Texans throwbacks.

Otherwise, it’s almost always the standard red and gold jerseys with the white pants or the white and red jerseys with red pants (sometimes red on red and white on white are worn as well). The red on red look was brought about once Andy Reid came to town and the team tried it out in 2013. It’s now usually their primetime look.

As much as fans love the standard Chiefs uniforms, sometimes we long for something different. You know, just to see something else for once.

Fortunately, Kansas City Chiefs Reddit is here to help.

While browsing Reddit the other day, I stumbled upon this post in the Chiefs sub by PMitko, which explored a potential throwback the team could wear. It’d honor the 1925 Kansas City Cowboys, who were initially formed as the Kansas City Blues in 1924 before changing the mascot to the Cowboys.

"What if the Chiefs wore (for a game) a throwback jersey to the 1925 Kansas City Cowboys? from KansasCityChiefs"

The uniforms would be dark gray with white numbering, which isn’t anything too fancy, but then the helmets would be gray and have the outline of the state of Missouri on them with KC written in gold. These aren’t anything that would scare anyone off, but the second option is the one that fans likely wouldn’t approve of.

The second photo is the same dark gray look, but with gold numbering and gold pants as well. Someone in the comments described these as looking like New Orleans Saints knockoffs and while the Saints’ throwbacks are black, I could definitely see where the commenter was coming from.

I’m always up for a new look whether it’s cool or not simply because the Chiefs don’t go outside the box when it comes to their uniforms. Even when teams did the color rush jerseys a few years ago, the Chiefs didn’t do anything different for theirs, opting to just go with their red on red look they had already done by that point. It was disappointing to say the least.

Some people will yell and say that the Chiefs uniforms are fine how they are and I agree, but couldn’t they try something different for just one game? Honoring the Kansas City Cowboys – a team who many probably didn’t even know existed until now – would be a cool throwback to wear, even if it was just for one game.
