Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Target – Number 12: Matt Ryan

Quarterback. Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan. 12. player. 44.

One interesting thing about Matt Ryan that I discovered last season is that throughout his fantasy career his success goes in a pattern of one year of very high success followed by a middle of the pack-type fantasy finish.

Following that pattern, he should be due to have a high finish this season. However, here he is ranked one spot lower than his finish last season mostly because there’s no real logical reason for the pattern. Some people get superstitious with their fantasy though, so that is just a fun fact for that crowd.

The most logical way to look at Ryan is that although his fantasy success varies from year to year, his off years are rarely too far from a top 10-15 finish. This makes him a very safe pick. If you’re the “play it safe” fantasy person or the superstitious one, this is a guy who you should be able to get on board with.

Ryan also has a decent set of weapons to throw to in Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. All in all, Ryan has a solid floor and a decent amount of upside for a guy who will be available deep into most fantasy drafts.

Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Target – Number 11: Aaron Rodgers

11. player. 49. . Quarterback. Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers

A lot of people are sleeping on Aaron Rodgers in fantasy this season.

Don’t do it!

You’ve probably heard the phrase “Mamba Mentality” thanks to the late Kobe Bryant. Rodgers is the closest thing we have to that in football and if you don’t think he’s ready to go out there and prove to the Packers that he’s still “that dude” after drafting Jordan Love you’re sleeping on him hard.

Many people want to site the lack of targets as the reason to have Rodgers too low in their rankings, but are they really any worse than what they were last year in his QB10 finish? He does fall lower in these rankings than than his finish last year – and believe me it was difficult – but if Rodgers was able to finish as QB10 last year, just think what an extremely motivated Rodgers could do this season.

Rodgers could very well absolutely go on a tear this year and you could look very smart this fantasy season by grabbing him at his all time low and watching him go off for your fantasy squad. Do not be surprised if this ranking is even too low for him and, again, DO NOT sleep on Rodgers this year!
