Top Five Targets for Patrick Mahomes – Number 1: Travis Kelce

Again, one and two are certainly up for debate, but I ultimately went with Travis Kelce at number one because if he goes down, the Chiefs are screwed at the tight end position. Hill going down last season was huge, but the other receivers did step in and do okay while he was out.

That wouldn’t happen if Kelce missed time. Ricky Seals-Jones is a better backup than that of Blake Bell or Demetrius Harris, but it’s still not ideal for Kelce to miss an extended period of time.

Kelce was a flat-out steal in the third round seven years ago and has had four straight 1,000 yard seasons. Two of those came without Mahomes, proving just how dominant Kelce can be.

In the past five seasons, Kelce has only missed two starts and he played in one of those games and sat out the other due to the Chiefs having their playoff spot locked up. He’s been dependable, reliable, and has become the best at his position in the entire league.

That’s why Travis Kelce got the top spot on this list.

Again, the number one and two spots could be up for debate. Some might have opted to include Demarcus Robinson on here over Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but I picked CEH for the five spot because of the expectations there.

Edwards-Helaire is expected to be a big time playmaker in this offense while Robinson, at best, is going to be a WR4.
