Top Five Targets for Patrick Mahomes – Number 3: Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins has now been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs for two seasons and honestly, he’s been a bit disappointing during the two regular seasons he’s been in a Chiefs uniform.

Where Watkins has stepped up, however, has been during the course of the playoffs. In the two playoff games in 2018, Watkins totaled ten receptions for 176 yards. In his three playoff games in the 2019 season, Watkins grabbed 14 receptions for 288 yards and a touchdown.

His touchdown in the AFC Championship Game clinched it for the Chiefs and ensured they’d make it to their first Super Bowl since the 1969 season. He also had a clutch grab in Super Bowl LIV as well that set the Chiefs up for a big score.

Watkins might not have been the weapon Chiefs fans were hoping for when the team inked him to a big contract prior to the 2018 season, but his performances in the playoffs alone have made him worth bringing in.

This is the final year of Watkins’ contract, so you best believe he’ll be a huge part of the Chiefs offense this year.
