Top Five Targets for Patrick Mahomes – Number 4: Mecole Hardman

Mecole Hardman might not have been included on this list a year ago since he was a rookie and not really at the top of a lot of draft boards. He was a bit of a puzzling selection, but he brought the speed that this offense covets.

Now, a year later, we know that Hardman is great in this offense. He was more of a weapon on special teams last year, but he did have some big games offensively last season.

Hardman finished the year with 26 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns and won the Chiefs Rookie of the Year title. As mentioned above, he played a bigger role on special teams than he did on offense and his offensive role by season’s end was pretty small.

What Hardman was able to accomplish last year, however, was leapfrogging Demarcus Robinson on the depth chart. Robinson probably would have been on this list last year, but now he’s replaced by Hardman, whose speed is very appealing to the Chiefs and to Patrick Mahomes.
