Fantasy Football Sleepers to Target – Number 5: A.J. Green

Wide Receiver. Cincinnati Bengals. A.J. Green. 5. player. 56.

This may seem like a risky move, but A.J. Green is one of my favorite targets in drafts this year. He has injury concerns, but he has always been a player that dominates when he is on the field. It also appears that Green is fully healthy.

I know some people may be turned off of him because the waiting game he made people play last year, but that is exactly why he is a value this year. When people sour on someone in fantasy, often times those players are completely off of draft boards. This tanks ADP, and Green is in prime position to be scooped up.

My favorite draft strategy right now is to go running back heavy early on, grab a receiver in the fourth round that has high upside, and then target A.J. Green. Every time I have done this in mock drafts, I have come away happy with my roster.

Green’s ADP right now is the back of the sixth round, and in some mocks he falls as low as the eighth. Hopefully, your league forgets about the impact Green can have on the field and they let him drop to you.

At 32 years old, Green isn’t completely washed up. Julio Jones is almost the same age as Green, and carries none of the stigma that Green does.

The only time Green hasn’t hit 1,000 yards in a season is because of injury. If he truly is healthy, which the Bengals appear to believe after franchise tagging him rather than letting him walk, then he is going to put up another 1,000 yards and be a steal in your fantasy drafts. Not to mention, Joe Burrow may be the most talented quarterback he has ever played with.
