Who are the ten best remaining free agents and would the KC Chiefs make sense as a landing spot?

The Kansas City Chiefs don’t have many weaknesses on their roster, but they could definitely still stand to bring in a few free agents. Would any of the best remaining free agents be a fit for the Chiefs?

Let’s take a look at the ten best remaining free agents and if there would be a place for them in Kansas City or not. This will be based on how the position looks for the Chiefs, not necessarily if the money is there to bring the player in or not.

Number 10: Ronald Leary, Offensive Guard

Ronald Leary spent the first five years of his career with the Dallas Cowboys and the past three years have been spent in Denver as a member of the Broncos. That’s probably why Chiefs fans recognize the name, as he faced the Chiefs six times over the past three years.

I wrote earlier this week about how Leary could be someone the Chiefs look to fill the void along their offensive line with the opt out of Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and now that rookie Lucas Niang has opted out as well, that could remain the case.

Leary hasn’t been as sharp and he’s 31 years old, but with eight years of NFL experience under his belt, he still has enough left in the tank and could be worth bringing in as a flier.

Is he a fit for the KC Chiefs?

The Chiefs have plenty of in-house options, but with Leary’s experience, he could be a decent option to bring in as a depth piece at the very least.

Number 9: Dre Kirkpatrick, Cornerback

Dre Kirkpatrick spent the first eight years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals where he was a consistent starter for the majority of his time there. He’s a free agent this offseason and has still yet to hook on with a team.

Kirkpatrick turns 31 in October and is definitely closer to the end of his career than he is to the beginning of it. He only played in six games last season before suffering an injury in November and missing the rest of the year.

Is he a fit for the KC Chiefs?

While Kirkpatrick isn’t the same player he once was, but the Chiefs are going to need depth at cornerback, especially with Bashaud Breeland likely missing the start of the season. Kirkpatrick theoretically would be a fit in Kansas City, but there are still other corners available in free agency that would be better options.
