It is time for fans to start preparing for their fantasy football seasons, so let’s get you prepped for the tight end position!

There are many different strategies when it comes to drafting tight ends for fantasy football (and there are many different strategies for the draft as a whole for that matter), but rather you believe it’s important to grab one of the few elite tight ends or prefer to grab one with your last pick this list can be of service to you.

These rankings, especially toward the bottom, will be different than many of the rankings you may have looked at. There are a few different guys who are being a little overvalued and a few who are being slept on as well so that is the reasoning behind the potential different look to these rankings.

So let’s get into it, here are the top 15 tight ends to target for 2020.

Honorable Mentions: T.J. Hockenson, Austin Hooper, Dallas Goedert, Jack Doyle, Eric Ebron, Jace Sternberger

Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Target – Number 15: Chris Herndon

15. player. 30. . Tight End. New York Jets. Chris Herndon

A lot of people are predicting Sam Darnold to break out or at least improve this season and if he does, Chris Herndon will have to be a big part of it.

If you take a look at the Jets depth chart, there isn’t really an elite pass catcher. There are a fair amount of solid receivers who are typically very good role players, but not guys who are known for dominating targets. This is of no disrespect to any of the receivers on the roster, it is just to say that the target competition is wide open.

Jamison Crowder is the reigning leader of the Jets receivers as far as fantasy points last season, but he only finished 31st in half PPR leagues last season and failed to reach 1,000 yards receiving. Without question, Herndon has a chance to carve out a big role in the offense this year from the tight end position.

Herndon is kind of an unknown name in the fantasy world after only playing in one game last season due to suspension and injury, but in 2018 as a rookie, Herndon actually had some success. Herndon landed right here in the 15th spot in half PPR scoring his rookie year and he only played in 14 games.

Availability could be looked at as a concern with him, but if you’re targeting Herndon with one of your last picks, he probably has the most upside of any tight end who will be available late in drafts.

Look for him to improve on his 39-reception, 502-yard, four-touchdown rookie season in 2020.
