Toughest Defenses in 2020 – Number 3: New England Patriots

AFC. East. New England Patriots. 3. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player

The Patriots have had several players out of the 2020 season, but even with that being the case, their defense is still looking to be one of the best in the league.

Stephon Gilmore and Devin McCourty will both still be in the Patriots secondary,  so that right there makes it tough to throw on these guys. New England benefitted from an incredibly easy schedule in the first half of the 2019 season and we saw as the games got tougher, their defense struggled a little more.

Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to get the best of the Pats last year, but it’ll be an entirely different team this time around. Gilmore is still a force to be reckoned with and isn’t someone Mahomes will take lightly.

The Patriots led the league in turnover differential last year, so they’re good at taking the football away and doing what they need to do in crunch time. The team will have a different look in 2020 with a new quarterback, but the defense should be as dominant as ever, even with all of the opt outs.

The Patriots travel to Arrowhead Stadium in week four.
