The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face several tough defenses in 2020.

The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, but which teams will have the best chances at slowing them down in 2020?

With some incredibly tough teams on the schedule this year, let’s go through the five toughest defenses waiting to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Toughest Defenses in 2020 – Number 5: Los Angeles Chargers

Pick Analysis. player. Scouting Report. AFC . West. Los Angeles Chargers. 5. 13

It feels like the Los Angeles Chargers have the ability to win the AFC West every year and a lot of the reason as to why is that their defense is stacked. Their problem, however, has been that they’ve always been hit hard with injuries year after year.

We saw how good the Chargers can be when they’re healthy though and that was showcased during the 2018 season when they matched the Chiefs’ 12-4 record and came up just short of winning the division.

With pass rushers Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram along with standout safety Derwin James, the Chargers have great talent returning in 2020. They also added Chris Harris Jr. this offseason and Linval Joseph on defense as well.

Los Angeles’ best move in the draft, however, was trading into the first round and grabbing Kenneth Murray out of Oklahoma. Murray can give the Chargers an even bigger boost at the linebacker position and that’s going to be key for them when it comes  to trying to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

These two will square off twice in 2020 with the match-ups coming in weeks two and 17.
