Chiefs News: Patrick Mahomes concerned with NFL’s lack of safety guidelines
Chiefs news includes how Patrick Mahomes is voicing his concerns over how the NFL isn’t doing enough to keep players safe ahead of training camp.
NFL training camps are getting set to begin this week even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Several NFL players have voiced their displeasure with the NFL due to them not having a plan that follows safety guidelines.
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is one of those players, tweeting on Sunday morning how he was hoping the league would be able to figure out a plan to keep everyone safe.
Mahomes also made it known with his hash tag that he does indeed want to play, but no one should blame not just NFL players, but any athletes who don’t feel safe with partaking in their respective sport this year due to the virus.
Football is a contact sport and if this virus spreads as easily as it appears to, it could make its way through NFL locker rooms with ease. We’ve seen how baseball is trying to operate amidst all of this, but the NFL doesn’t appear to have any plans in place whatsoever.
What if a player tests positive? How long do they need to be away from the team for? How does this affect the rest of the team? Questions like these, and many more, are what the NFL need to be looking into and quite frankly, should have already had answers to by this point. They’ve had MONTHS to try and do so.
The NFL has had the most time out of all of the major sports league to figure out how a potential season will work through a global pandemic and they’ve failed miserably.

"There has been no agreement on how often players would be tested, what would happen if a player tested positive for COVID-19 and how that would affect the team, or if players with pre-existing health conditions would be able to opt-out."

This is a bad look for the NFL, but is anyone surprised by their lack of actions? The league has fumbled with big issues in the past and the sad truth is that money talks. They know the players have a lot more to lose by not suiting up and playing this year, so that’s why they’re going to take their sweet time in coming up with any kind of a plan.
We all want sports to return and we’re slowly seeing leagues try to get back into the swing of things, but if it’s not safe for players, coaches, and staff, then is it really worth it?
The answer is a big, fat NO.
