Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent that comes along once in a life time, and one that I’m not sure has ever been seen in football.

Most quarterbacks have at least one weakness, but what is Patrick’s?

He checks all the boxes you would want for a quarterback. He pulls off stunning jaw dropping plays, has a very strong arm, reads the defense like a picture book, ability to improvise when the play breaks down, deadly accuracy, and you could even say he is dual threat, for his sneaky ability to run and keep a play alive has emerged in his most recent games.

Jackson is certainly gifted, and no one is questioning his undeniable talent, but there are chinks in the armor. When coming out of the NFL draft, Jackson received large criticism for “being a running back playing quarterback”. It is true that Jackson seems to rely more on his running than his passing game, and his accuracy and decision making with the ball sometimes comes into question.

His passing game has improved, but it is something he still needs to hone his abilities at. Does this make him a bad quarterback? Absolutely not, but if he wants Mahomes-type money, I have to nitpick.

You can’t argue with results, and Jackson gets the job done, no one is questioning that, but you need a well-rounded quarterback – one that is a threat no matter what he decides to do with the ball. Mahomes has that edge over Jackson.

Since being drafted in 2018, Jackson has had a fantastic start to his career, but his biggest issue has been his performance in the playoffs. He’s only appeared in two playoff games and was lackluster in both of them.

Despite his postseason struggles, Jackson is still a very good quarterback, but he’s not Mahomes good.
