The NFL season is slowly creeping up on us (hopefully) and that means it is time for the Kansas City Chiefs to kick off their championship defense tour for the first time in over half a century.

Luckily, the Kansas City Chiefs have one of the deepest rosters in the NFL and are good position to be the first back to back Super Bowl champs since the Patriots of the early 2000’s.

Just how talented is this roster though?

In the NFL, top end talent is important, but depth can be even more so when you consider the grind an NFL season can be. Health of players is vital, but stars are bound to go down with injury for every team.

It is unavoidable.

That is why I decided to look at where the Chiefs were strongest, and which positions have players who can step up in case of injury or suspension.

Disclaimer: I did not include the defensive line because of the uncertainty surrounding Chris Jones. It was too big of a factor when considering the deepest positions on the team, because he may be the teams second best player overall.

Also, keeping true to the spirit of this list, you won’t see the quarterback room pop up in the top three. I know positional value is a thing, and Patrick Mahomes is so good that even having a high schooler backing him up would still yield one of the best quarterback rooms in the league.

Honestly though, we don’t need to take another look at Mahomes here. We all know he is amazing. So let’s shine a little light on the guys around him, and rank the team’s top three position groups.
